The Nasty Habit of Ingratitude

Am I possibly guilty of the nasty habit of ingratitude? I have been praying and asking God for a financial miracle in my missionary life. I am asking him to open the doors of miracles from heaven and pour down his blessings in my life. I need from January on to raise 200 dollars per month and I know God is going to raise people to fight this battle for me. I am so thankful for those few people who are helping me financially and I will never stop being thankful.

As gentle as I am, I am greatly concerned – I have missionaries friends all over the world now and I have always a question in mind “Do missionaries not say thank you anymore?”Opportunities for missionaries have been given for them to speak, offerings have been taken up for the missionaries in churches, etc. etc. and sometimes not a personal note or a phone call even, to say thank you. These missionaries stay in homes and never say thank you. Never a note!

These things I know because I have some missionary friends that do that. My question is how will we as missionaries ever get and keep support if we don’t show appreciation.
I don’t know what to say. Love and appreciation is a fruit of the Spirit. If we have a nasty habit of ingratitude what does that say about our walk with God.

I spend a lot of time coaching new missionaries about being thankful. We spend time discussing it in our support development training in Master’s Commission or YWAM. It should be a normal expression of love and appreciation.

When someone donates Money to any missionary but this missionary takes weeks before He says thank you. This is inexcusable. The nasty habit of ingratitude. It poisons the desire to give again! But in my ministry I am determined to do it differently, I am willing to fight for those that have given so sacrificially to my ministry here in Brazil. I need you big time, sponsor!!!

I am taking this time to say thank you and I would never be able to do what I do without your support or prayers. Please if you want to increase the amount you are blessing me or talk to me about how we can partner together, Just let me know.

I am ashamed, but determined to let this fruit of the Spirit be more effective in my life. We can’t do everything, but we must do what we can. Appreciation is like an insurance policy. You have to keep renewing it! You cannot do a kindness too soon because you never know how soon it will be too late. Kindness is a hard thing to give away - it usually comes back.
